Mask Fit Testing Features

  • Eliminates less accurate and subjective qualitative respirator fit testing methods.

  • Saves time testing employees compared with qualitative testing.

  • Onsite testing eliminates need to send employees to off-site testing locations.

  • Eliminates restrictions of not having instrumentation or trained personnel to perform qualitative testing.

Quantitative Respiratory Mask Fit Testing

Summit uses TSI PortaCount respirator fit testing equipment to measure the fit (i.e., presence of mask seal leakage) of a respirator to employees at your organization’s location.

This quantitative test is performed while the employee is performing exercises such as moving, breathing, and talking in a respirator to simulate the work environment. All testing is based on protocols developed by OSHA. When testing is complete, the results are loaded into a database for regulatory compliance purposes. Additionally, we can transmit the results to clients.

Instrumentation-based testing is highly standardized, accurate in detection, and efficient. It also eliminates errors created through alternative, less sophisticated testing methods. OSHA requires annual respirator fit testing for employees required to wear respirators.

Onsite fit testing reduces the inefficiencies of sending employees to expensive offsite testing locations. Summit can assist with annual testing, new hire employees, or new processes requiring employee respiratory protection.

Respirator testing capabilities include the following:

  • Disposable Masks
  • N95 Masks
  • Half Mask Respirators
  • Full Face Respirators
  • Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR) Masks
  • Self-Contained Breathing Apparatuses (SCBA)

Summit can also provide more detailed assistance with respirator protection. We provide written Respirator Protection Plans, help with the selection of respirators/filtering materials, provide annual respirator protection training, and perform exposure assessments.

You may be thinking, why invest in quantitative mask fit testing?

Alternative testing methods can be subjective, less accurate, and may not be the best indicator that a respirator will fit an employee.

We make what was a tedious task easy and create a document trail so you can invest your time elsewhere.
